The long-running 19-year dispute over the estate and lineage of the late Kadongo Kamu legend Paul Kafeero is finally nearing its conclusion, with official DNA findings set to be publicly released next week.

The Uganda Police Force Uganda Police Force and the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory (DGAL) Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory will on Thursday, June 25, 2026, present and read the DNA results involving more than 25 individuals who have been claiming to be children of the late musician.
The announcement was made by Minister of State for Local Government Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, who has been actively involved in mediating the prolonged family impasse.
He confirmed that the official release will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Police Headquarters in Naguru, with participation from forensic experts and selected family representatives.
According to the minister, the exercise was jointly conducted by the Police Forensic Laboratory team led by ACP Andrew K. Mubiru and DGAL officials headed by Mr. Kepher Kuchana Kateu. He added that the event will be attended by invited relatives, clan leaders, mothers of the claimants, and members of the press, while the public will follow the proceedings live on television as the long-standing matter finally moves toward closure.
