A Pass has questioned why some pastors aggressively fight back against people who criticise them, arguing that the behaviour of certain religious leaders pushes people away from the church.

A Pass made the remarks amid the ongoing war of words between businessman Frank Gashumba and several pastors over what Gashumba has described as fake pastors performing fake miracles.

Since the debate started, several religious leaders have come out to defend themselves and challenge Gashumba’s criticism, with Pastor Robert Kayanja, his wife and his son among the most vocal figures responding to the accusations.

However, A Pass has questioned why disagreements between religious leaders and their critics have to turn into confrontations, especially when the church is expected to offer guidance and understanding.

Speaking during a TikTok Live session with singer Elijah Kitaka, A Pass argued that some people in the church are quick to judge and condemn those who do not share their beliefs or who make mistakes.

“They look at you and judge you by your looks. People in church condemn a lot of people and call out someone over their mistakes or someone who’s doing something contrary to what they believe in, they fight you and put you down. Why is it that people in church put a lot of pressure on those outside and make them hate church and then call them children of Satan?” he questioned.

A Pass suggested that such treatment can make people develop resentment towards the church instead of encouraging them to seek spiritual guidance.

His comments come at a time when the debate over alleged fake pastors and miracle claims has attracted reactions from religious leaders, public figures and entertainers.

During the same conversation, Kitaka also criticised what he viewed as some pastors’ tendency to dictate how other people should live their lives while failing to live up to the standards they expect from others.
